Replacing existing internal combustion engine (ICE) buses with electric buses
What Can I Do?
The State and Federal Govt have begun investing in electric buses in WA, to replace internal combustion engine (ICE) buses, with $250m allocated this year to go towards 130 locally-built electric buses and depot upgrades such as charging infrastructure. Four Volvo battery-electric buses have already been trialled in Perth over the last year with great success. While there are no plans yet for electric buses on WA’s south coast, community members can experience an electric bus ride in Perth and encourage electric bus uptake for future buses on the south coast.
